Charles Smith will review how natural processes can heal not only ecosystems, but also people and communities, and the central role of native plants in this process.

Charles is a native of Arlington, VA, and a naturalist and ecologist with 30 years of experience in natural resource inventory, planning, management and monitoring.
He is currently branch chief in the Fairfax County Stormwater Planning Division, focusing on stream and natural area restoration. Charles is a US Army veteran; board member of the Virginia Native Plant Society, and a certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner.
Charles is a popular VNPS speaker and has served as an instructor for Audubon Society of Northern Virginia, Virginia Master Gardeners and three chapters of the Virginia Master Naturalists.
VNPS programs are free and open to the public.
