In order to preserve our planet’s biodiversity and sustain our own lives in the future, it is estimated that we need to restore about 50% of the habitable land on Earth. This requires planting trillions of native plants back into their home ranges across the world, or more importantly, helping the plants spread themselves.

Come learn about what you can do, what we can do together and what is being done to implement ecological restoration in Virginia and around the world.

Charles is a native of Arlington, VA and a US Army veteran. He is a naturalist and ecologist with 30 years of experience working primarily in natural resource management. He is currently a branch chief for Fairfax County Stormwater, focusing on stream and natural area restoration. 

Charles is a member and board member of the Virginia Native Plant Society and a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner with the Society for Ecological Restoration. He speaks on many natural history topics and has served as an instructor for multiple chapters of the Virginia Master Naturalists and the Audubon Society of Northern Virginia.  

VNPS programs are free and open to the public.
