Annual Native Plant Sale
The 2025 Annual Native Plant Sale is closer than you think: May 3, 9:30 am at the Community Building, 401 North Boundary Street in Williamsburg. It’s never too early to start thinking about plants you need and about volunteering for the sale if you are available.
Potting parties will start soon. Here are the dates:
- Sunday, March 23, 1 pm
- Tuesday, April 1, 10 am
- Sunday, April 13, 1 pm
- Tuesday, April 15, 10 am
All will be held at the Etchbergers’ back yard. Contact Janet to let us know that you will be coming and to get the address.
What are potting parties? Throughout the year, chapter members and volunteers get together to pot up plants in preparation for the big sale. The plants may be small “plugs” purchased from native plant nurseries, or they may be plants donated by members and friends and need to be dug from an overgrown garden. It’s hard work at times but can also be fun and rewarding. It’s definitely educational. Potting parties are a good way to learn to recognize native plants at various stages of their growth.
Are there native plants you are looking for? Email your list to Emilia. We are starting to put together our list and having your suggestions will be helpful.
Do you anticipate having extra native plants you might donate? Let us know by emailing Adrienne. Open our Plant Wish List to see some plants that we are always looking for. Getting plants donated by our members is a great way to add variety to our offerings.
It’s all for a good cause. Proceeds from the Plant Sale provide funding for Nature Camp scholarships and for other native plant related projects in our community.
