Amanda Whispell will explore the current status of insect populations and will examine the evidence for widespread declines, the factors contributing to these trends, and what they mean for ecosystems and human well-being. The presentation highlights the essential roles insects play, while addressing threats such as habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change, and invasive species. Through engaging stories, scientific research, and practical examples, participants gain a deeper understanding of insect conservation and leave with actionable steps—including creating habitat, selecting native plants, reducing pesticide impacts, and improving landscape diversity—they can take to help protect and support insect biodiversity in their own communities.
