Due to the rain forecast for Friday, February 23, the Winter Greens Walk has been rescheduled to Monday, February 26 at 10am.
Whether they are nasty invasive plants or treasured natives, anything that’s green at this time of year is worth a second look. Going in from the “other side” of Scott’s Run Nature Preserve, we’ll hope to see round-lobed Hepatica and pleated Puttyroot orchid leaves among others along the natural surface trails.
Some of the most interesting plants are on the cliffs above the Potomac: walking sticks recommended. Otherwise, bring water, whatever snacks you need, expect mud, dress for the weather (wind over the river can be fierce!)
