The annual Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District Native Plant Seedling Sale will open online on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 10am!

Sorry, as of March 7 all plants are sold out.

This Year’s Seedlings
These species were selected because of their value to native bees, but they also serve as valuable food sources for wildlife. All species are native to Virginia and two packages are available:

  • TREE-mendous Flowers will be offered for $15 and includes two each of the following species: American Hornbeam, Canadian Serviceberry and Winterberry Holly.
  • Un-BEE-lievable Blooms will sell for $15 and includes two each of the following: False Indigobush, Eastern Redbud and Silky willow.

Visit https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/soil-water-conservation/native-seedling-sale to learn more about these plants and view photographs of the selections.

Important Seedling Sale Dates
March 1, 2022 at 10am: Online store opens, one month later than in previous years
April 1-2, 2022: Distribution at Sleepy Hollow Bath & Racquet Club in Falls Church

The program is offered in partnership with Fairfax County’s Urban Forestry Management Division and the Virginia Department of Forestry’s Potomac Work Area. We are grateful to Sleepy Hollow Bath and Racquet Club for hosting the Seedling Sale distribution for the third year!

For over 40 years, NVSWCD has provided a low-cost option for residents to purchase seedlings to enhance the urban forest and support local environmental stewardship and engagement programs. In the last 20 years, more than 100,000 native tree and shrub seedlings have been distributed to Fairfax County residents and those in the surrounding area, through this annual event.
