The Elizabeth River Project officially opened Paradise Creek Nature Park to the public on Saturday, June 22, 2013 with partners City of Portsmouth and Virginia Port Authority. Scientists found more than 188 species of birds, fish, insects and other wildlife. Come on out and enjoy! The wildflowers are blooming and the new wetland and revitalized forest are looking gorgeous.

This 40 acre park was created by the non-profit Elizabeth River Project, with the City of Portsmouth, Virginia Port Authority and many partners, to introduce you to the wonders of a river once presumed dead – coming back to life.

Restoration of this Park has been underway since 2001. It is one step in a significant effort to give new life to the Elizabeth River. The restoration is a result of citizens, industry and government working together to reduce pollution and bring back a healthier shore. Urban river restoration takes hundreds of projects carried out by thousands of people and organizations over several decades.  It takes you!

We can car pool to this event.
