Paleoecologist Dr. Emily (Russell) Southgate will discuss the theory and methods she uses to reconstruct past vegetation using pollen preserved in lake sediments and other evidence. Using her data and that of other paleoecologists, she will show how the vegetation in eastern North America has changed over the last 20,000 years, from full glacial time to the present.
All lectures are FREE and the public is invited.
