Karen S. Coleman, CPSA, will be the presenter

Karen Coleman has been drawing and painting most of her life, often choosing subjects from nature.  Along the way, she fell in love with the world of plants and traditional botanical art.  In 2010, Karen earned a Certificate of Botanical Art & Illustration from the Brookside Gardens School, Maryland, where she now teaches.  Reflecting a variety of media, her works include colored pencil, watercolor, graphite, pastels, and pen & ink.  One of her favorites is colored pencil, which she finds allows a great deal of flexibility and depth of color while producing wonderful visual results. The artist’s works have been shown widely in the US, including solo and group exhibitions. National and international juried shows have included ASBA’s A Natural Perspective, Losing Paradise? Endangered Plants Here and Around the World, and Following in the Bartrams’ Footsteps; the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation 13th International Exhibition of Botanical Art & Illustration; CPSA Annual International Exhibitions; the New York State Museum’s Focus on Nature XII; and American Botanicals: Mid-Atlantic Native Plants. No registration is required for this free event. Refreshments available.
