Many plant species create microscopic crystals of calcium oxalate. Why they do this is not known, but there has been plenty of speculation. Dr. Coté will show us the remarkable variety of crystals made by both exotic tropicals and familiar natives, and discuss his research on their purpose in the life of the plant.
Gary Cote will be the speaker for our first meeting this fall.
