Plant Sale 2025 — Packera aurea

Packera aurea (Golden Ragwort) makes a very nice groundcover. The flowers look like deep yellow daisies and are in bloom for about three weeks. Not only is this plant beautiful, herbivores rarely eat it because it is toxic. While happiest in moist to wet soils in either sunny or shady sites, it will grow in dry shade. From 6 inches – 2 feet tall and 1 foot wide, Packera aurea is short-lived but reseeds freely — in moist conditions it can become weedy. Loved by small bees and flies, Packera aurea produces both pollen and nectar and a host plant for Gem Moth caterpillars.
