Join Phil Stokes for a late summer plant walk at Ivy Creek Natural Area. We’ll explore forest edges and meadow areas where we should find a variety of goldenrods, mints, and milkweeds. Trees and shrubs such as sassafras, persimmon, and black haw will be revealing their unique fruits and berries. A visit to the reservoir should treat us to seeing cardinal flower, St John’s wort, and boneset.
Meet by the Kiosk near the parking lot promptly at 9AM.
Dress for the weather and insects. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water.
Free and open to the public.
Co-sponsors: Ivy Creek Natural Area and the Jefferson Chapter, Virginia Native Plant Society.
