We plan to offer Sedum ternatum (Wild Stonecrop Sedum) at our April 27th native plant sale. It is a low growing semi-evergreen succulent groundcover that forms large mats covering rocks, tree roots or mossy areas near streams. This plant flourishes in part to full shade in thin moist soils and tends to tolerate droughts. Starry white flowers appear between spring and early summer. Bees, flies and wasps visit the flowers. The short plants only reach 6” in height and 6-12” in width. Rabbits and deer usually leave this plant alone. Sedum ternatum will grow under black walnut trees where very little else can grow.
