Dr. Shannon Bell is an Environmental Sociology and Appalachian Studies Professor at Virginia Tech and Founder of the Forest Botanical Region Living Monument in Norton, Virginia. Her Master’s and Ph.D. are from University of Oregon. Her research focuses on environmental and climate justice in Appalachia, and the economic importance of native herbs and medicinal plants to the people of the region and the herbal supply chain.
