Rising to Meet the Invasive Plant Challenge in Northern Virginia

In general accordance with Article IV of our bylaws, this email serves as the notice of the chapter’s annual meeting on September 21 at 7:30 p.m. If you cannot attend, please send an email proxy vote to Secretary Janine Lawton at lawton.janine@gmail.com(opens in new tab) with PWWS Budget Approval Election in the Subject Line and indicate your vote for or against the proposed FY2027 annual budget. Your proxy vote will help us achieve a quorum for the conducting the election.
The proposed budget as recommended by the board of directors is as follows:

The PWWS board plans to resume the spring plant sale in 2027. YTD stands for Year-to-Date expenses in this budget year. We have provided final figures (Year End Actuals) for both 2025 and 2024. Our budget year corresponds to the calendar year. Grayed-out line items have been discontinued for FY2027

 September 21 Program Presented by Margaret Fisher

 

Margaret will talk about the regional initiatives to rescue trees from invasive vines and control invasive plants in general.

Bio: Margaret Fisher is one of the organizers of the Plant NOVA Natives/Plant NOVA Trees campaign. More recently, she helped found Fairfax Tree Rescuers Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM), whose goal is to facilitate a community-wide effort in Fairfax/Falls Church to save the million trees at risk from invasive vines. She is also a Virginia Master Naturalist, Northern Virginia Bird Alliance Wildlife Sanctuary Program ambassador, and Fairfax Invasive Management Area (IMA) site leader.
