Please join us for a walk with Master Naturalist Richard Stromberg; this is our “Second Sunday Walk” that is NOT on the second Sunday this month! However, it IS a flower walk and we guarantee you will see them on the 21st!

Join Richard on west side of Fort Valley as we seek Tassel Rue, (Trautvetteria caroliniensis), skullcaps, (Scutellaria), orchids, and other plants at the bottom of the east side of Green Mountain. This is an easy walk. Wear sturdy footwear, bring bug repellent, sunscreen, and plenty of water.

Directions: take Fort Valley Road (VA 678) south from VA 55, past the Group Campground and Elizabeth Furnace to the Bear Wallow Parking lot on the right, across from the Family Campground.

Richard is editor of the Piedmont Chapter of VNPS newsletter. As a Virginia Master Naturalist he monitors rare plant communities in Shenandoah National Park and surveys plants for the Virginia Working Landscapes project. He also leads hikes and maintains trails for the Potomac Appalachian Trail club.

Please RSVP for this walk by sending an email to piedmontvnps@gmail.com.
The walk is free and open to everyone. We’ll see you there!
