The public is invited to come and hear artist Emily Herr, who will describe her most recent mural, Secret Garden Sunroom, at the monthly meeting of the Pocahontas Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society. The mural covers an entire sunroom with delicate strings of flowering plants, all native to the area. It also features many different kinds of local butterflies. Each species of plant is labeled in calligraphy, similar to an old herbarium illustration.

The meeting takes place in the Education and Library Complex of the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, 1800 Lakeside Avenue, Richmond, VA on Thursday, October 2nd at 7:00 p.m.

Herr believes it is important for a work of art to have depth behind its concept, and for the artist to be informed about her subject. As owner of the mural-painting business HerrSuite, she creates custom, hand-painted murals on pre-existing surfaces in both homes and businesses. Many of her murals have a story behind them and an education to offer.

The program is free and open to the public. The room is available at 6:30; come early and get to know us. A short business meeting will follow the presentation.
