In our Second Winter Speaker Series event we will have the privilege of hearing Dr. Emily Southgate, author, teacher, lecturer, and lover of native plant communities. Emily currently teaches graduate courses in botany and ecology at Hood College in Frederick, MD. Her major research interest is the historical ecology of the Eastern United States, especially New York, New Jersey and Virginia. Join us as we hear how she felt at home botanically in Eastern Siberia, and listen to  tales of the drifting continents, volcanic action, and glaciation that help explain why we share so many genera of plants with eastern Asia.

FREE, and all are welcome. Refreshments provided.
Note: For everyone’s comfort we cannot accommodate pets in the Media Center.
