DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the turning leaves and perhaps a few late flowers with Ma
 rgaret Chatham and Alan Ford — who knows? A beautiful time to visit the 
 Marsh. This walk is in memory of Potowmack Chapter member Pat Salamone.\n\
 nOn past walks\, we have always headed out the Haul Road and ran out of ti
 me before reaching the boardwalk\, so this time we’ll put on blinders an
 d go to the end of the boardwalk first and work our way back.\n\nThe Dyke 
 Marsh Wildlife Preserve is a freshwater\, tidal marsh on the Virginia side
  of the Potomac River in Fairfax County. It is a unit of the George Washin
 gton Memorial Parkway\, managed by the U.S. National Park Service.\n\nThe 
 Friends of Dyke Marsh\, formed in 1975\, raises money to sponsor scientifi
 c studies of the marsh\; conducting nature walks\; conducting surveys\, in
 cluding the annual breeding bird survey\; hosting trash cleanups\; prepari
 ng informational materials\; encouraging public stewardship\; and helping 
 NPS control invasive plants. The Friends of Dyke Marsh (FODM) are dedicate
 d to preserving\, protecting and restoring the Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserv
 e\, in partnership with the National Park Service\, as a vital wildlife ha
 bitat\, through education\, science\, advocacy and stewardship.\n\nThis ev
