Assistant Curator Jack Monsted shares the ongoing management practices shaping the meadows and wetlands of the Native Plant Trail at the State Arboretum of Virginia. He’ll discuss regular meadow maintenance, invasive species management and methods for increasing native plant diversity in established meadows.

Jack is a native plant lover and restoration ecologist from central Pennsylvania. He has worked at The State Arboretum since 2019 and serves on the technical advisory board for Virginia based environmental group Sustainability Matters. Before moving to Virginia, he received his M.Sc. degree in plant biology from Ohio University, and a B.A.  in environmental geography from the Ohio State University.
