2020 Virginia Master Naturalist Shenandoah Chapter Naturalist of the Year Mary-Keith Ruffner and 2021 Virginia Master Naturalist Shenandoah Chapter Naturalist of the Year Sally Anderson will lead a walk to look for skunk cabbage and other early plants at Sky Meadows State Park.
Join us for an early spring exploration of wet habitats in the park, where we will be looking for blooms and early leaves of Skunk Cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus) and other signs of the coming spring.
The areas we will ramble are mostly nice trails, only slightly steep or rocky in a few areas, although the footing can be wet or muddy where we find Skunk Cabbage. Cancelled by 11 am if weather does not cooperate. We will meet near the picnic pavilion where there is plenty of parking. Please note that park entrance fees will be charged.
