Our next chapter meeting will be on September 10th, at 7 pm, at the Health & Human Services Bldg located at 210 Pepper St SE, Room 108/109 in  Christiansburg, Virginia.  The meeting can be attended either in person or via Zoom.  Click Here to register for the Zoom login.

From 6:30 to 7:00, before the meeting starts, Beth Umberger will be selling native plants leftover from the plant sales earlier this year. Cash and checks only. If you manage a public garden, Beth will donate the plants. See this list for species available.

The topic is How to Use the Flora of Virginia app on your cellphone, hosted by Sarah Windes, who is a member of the New River Valley chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists.  The Flora of Virginia app can be acquired for either Android or iOS for $19.99 here at https://floraofvirginia.org/flora-app/ before the meeting, if you do not have it already. It is a scientific key for your phone for helping accurately identify 3,164 species of native and non-native Virginia flora.

A field trip  to actually use the app is scheduled for Saturday, September 14th, from 3-5 pm, at the Meadowbrook Shelter of the Heritage Park in Blacksburg.  Our chapter picnic will be held at the Meadowbrook Shelter immediately after this field trip.
