SUMMARY:National Forest Appreciation Day at Pandapas Pond
DESCRIPTION:National Forest Appreciation Day will be Saturday\, June 27\, t
 his year. Native shrubs will be our topic. Parking is in the lower parking
  lot (next to the pond).\n\nIn 2017\, our chapter president\, Mary Rhoades
 \, suggested to the mayor of Blacksburg that the town create a local event
  to promote the nearby Jefferson National Forest as a place to visit and a
 ppreciate. The mayor signed a proclamation (see attached) that the last S
 aturday in June is National Appreciation Forest Day.\n\nNFA Day is a speci
 al educational outreach our Chapter hosts each year at Pandapas Pond.  We
  choose a different subject each year\, and then put up a table and talk t
 o whoever shows up that day and is curious to learn about our topic. Unlik
 e other outreach efforts\, it is not about promoting VNPS\, and people who
  help out that day usually learn as much as our visitors do.  Some of our
  past topics have been:  Fruits of the Forest\, Galls\, insects and Ferns
