Recent discoveries about the remarkable pollination biology of flame azalea, (Rhododendron calendulaceum), and the surprising roles some of the insects visiting its flowers, will be the focus of a lecture by Mary Jane Epps, PhD., Assistant Professor of Biology at Mary Baldwin College. Her talk will include highlights from two of her lectures entitled: “When Butterflies Beat the Birds and the Bees,” and “The Natural History of Pollination in Flame Azalea.”

This free event will be both informative and enjoyable; come at 6:30 to chat with other folks who are interested in this topic, and to learn a little about the Virginia Native Plant Society, too. Lecture starts at 7. Open to the public, of course. In Room D102
