How do plants in old fields and woods survive winter and prepare for spring? We will visit a variety of habitats to explore plants in winter, against a backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountain. The walk will not be strenuous.
If the weather is inclement, the walk will be canceled by 8 AM.
There is a $10 parking fee since this is a state park.
To save the $10 entry fee, you can stop by any Virginia county library and check out an annual pass for the week to waive the parking fee. They usually have several available. Another option is to save your paper receipts from any in-store purchase at a REI in Virginia (even a $1 Clif Bar counts). The bottom of the receipt can be torn off and used as a day pass at Virginia State Parks.
