Collaboration for this project began in 2010, and the staff at the library is every bit as excited as we are for the opening! The exhibit spaces and the quality of the Library’s execution is going to be astounding. It will feature herbarium specimens, sculptures, fossils, photographs, illustrations form the Flora of Virginia, conservation information, and  beautiful and surprising books, engravings, and even plant specimens from the library’s collection.

Some of the others providing objects for the exhibition are Mountain Lake Biological Station, the University of Richmond Herbarium, the biology department at the College of William and Mary, the Garden Cub of Virginia, the Longleaf Alliance, and the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

The library will also offer a series of educational talks and activities during the six months of the exhibition’s run. Stay tuned!

The exhibit will run through September 13, 2014.

Admission to the project is open to the public at no charge.
