The public is invited to our Chapter Meeting in May, when the program will be “Peter’s Mountain Mallow” by Sam Truslow, Land Steward for The Nature Conservancy in Virginia. He will talk about the Narrows Preserve in Giles County, home to the only known population of the Peter’s Mountain Mallow. Sam will discuss the discovery of the plant, the establishment of the preserve and the restoration work being done by the Conservancy and other organizations. Sam has a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia and has worked for The Nature Conservancy for over 10 years. His primary interests are prescribed fire, public access and spending time out of doors with his wife and two young children.
